Josh asked:
I am looking to get some bigger speakers for my home audio set up. I have a yamaha htr 6030 receiver with the 5 yamaha satellites it came with. Most floorstanding speakers are capable of handling 200+ watts but most receivers are only 100 watt per channel, and even a lot of amps are the same. Want to know if there are any good amps that can put out 300 or 400 watts per channel and not cost over 1grand but still sound good.

So i have two home audio receivers one is a sony 120 watt and one is a sony 320 watt. can i connect them together so i can get basically one receiver that has 440 watts and more speaker inputs?
would something like this work?
i use the higher wattage receiver to power my subs and use a stereo switch to connect that receiver to my other one that is powering my speakers?

I know that most home audio receivers are 8 ohms, well I have a dual voice coil sub and each is rated at 4 ohms, so if I wire it to 8 ohms like this – http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/woofer_configurations.asp?Q=1&I=42 – Would I be able to plug my sub directly into the back of my audio receiver in my house?
